Net.art was a crucial change in the introduction of online art. It shaped the way that art would be viewed and more importantly shared across the Internet and opened up numerous lanes for artists to explore new topics and share their work. With its introduction in the 1990's net.art was created as a parody but eventually transformed into something revolutionary in the art world. This became a way of sharing art across the Internet as popular social media sites like instagram had not been created yet. Thus, in the era of it creation it was very difficult to get art out onto the internet and reach a large population of viewers. Net.art helped change this by creating an Internet service that allowed people to share art to the masses. Net.art eventually became a way for people to critique the world and create insights into their own thoughts and views. This became critical as net.artists gained more and more influence and the realm of internet art started to grow. It is interesting to view the history of net.art as many thought it was not the proper place to share this kind of world and the movement as a whole was under major fire by a number of different groups who opposed this new transition. Looking at it today it is very interesting to view how this movement has changed into what is almost considered the norm in 2020. Viewing art through the internet has become more and more prevalent as the world continues to expand on internet access.I believe that this movement was one of the best things that could happen as it exposed a large amount of people to artwork instead of just the people who were physically there to view art. This change has lead to the entire human population to be able to view and appreciate art no matter where it is in the world and I think that is something truly special. It continues to become a more and more influential concept as internet access continues to grow everyday and allows for the spread of opinions on different social issues.
