Final Statement P4

I created this web adventure to tell the story of a game that I think everyone found fun as a kid. The game is based around the age old concept of a murder mystery. I also wanted to create two different styles of gameplay within my web adventure. The first style is a hide and seek which is found at the beginning of the game. I wanted this part of the game to challenge the players mind and to have them solve a riddle and search around each room for the clue. This allows the player to use their mind to find where the best spot to look for the clue is and then use their scouting ability to find where in that location the clue is. Each riddle was shaped differently and I just different terminology to challenge the viewer into finding each one. This was inspired by the age old game where's Waldo, in which you look around a room to find a small item that was hidden. The second part of the game let the player choose their own path that played off their instincts to be the good or bad guy. After you catch the murder you are given a set of options in which you have to decide wether you want to arrest them or switch to their side and help them escape. These two variations gave the user the ability to play off of what story they wanted and made them use different techniques in order to get through the game. The artwork behind it is inspired by steam punk-is style as everything takes place as if it is set in the 1920's. This was a major change to the rest of my work as most of it is somewhat modern and current date. This gave the user a chance to go back in time and experience the quest in a different timeline than their own. However, the Easter eggs in the web adventure move the user back to present day as each one is based off of a famous actor and thus created an almost interdimential game as their characters are set in the 1920's. Each character's famous version contributed their personalities into the riddles and how they explained where the clue was and their dialogue as a whole.
