This project was created to represent the inner thoughts of people while they eat food and also a reflection on how everyone has been feeling while being in lockdown. To address the first part the video was created around candy. I found this as a very interesting topic as it is often something kids dream about but becomes less apparent as people become adults. I wanted to portray that people still have those feelings inside of them and that sometimes it is a good thing to just sit back and act like a child every once in a while. Thus, during the video we see the main character go into a dream after eating a piece of candy. The dream is full of candy a bright rainbow colors as a representation of how it feels to be a kid again. However the video is laced with lots of creepy kids laughing making the feeling almost scary as if it something bad. This is to represent the current feeling of social factors that relate to this day in age, that doing this is a bad thing. Finally relating back to how everyone is feeling in covid. The entire video takes place in a single location and even further in the same room, a kitchen. This was a representation on how we as a society have been locked up due to the pandemic and how some of us might be feeling like we are falling in and out of a dream scape as we are stuck in the same location for weeks on end. All of these together create my project and a representation of many differing issues that are occurring in the world today. I find these issues extremely important today as almost everyone is feeling the same way during quarantine . The scary part of the project or the dream was meant to represent essentially all of 2020 and how messed up this year has been. When the main character wakes up that is meant to represent the end of covid and the year as everything returns back to normal and people move on with their lives. Thus, it envois the thought that eventually everything is going to be alright and that we will eventually move past this pandemic and back into our normal lives.
